Rene has been working with the MESA Program, since 2002, as a MESA/STEM Program Advisor/Student Affairs Specialist.  Rene Rubio has been assisting the MESA program in supporting NVC students to successfully transfer to four-year institutions in STEM majors. He enjoys managing and supporting NVC’s STEM National Chapters and clubs; SHPE, SACNAS, the Robotics, the Dreamers of Community Change (DOCC) premed, and more. With twenty years of experience in the field of education, he has contributed to successful grant proposals funded and completed which include Special Projects MESA Grant since 2002, Hewlett-Packard Community College Pre Engineering/Computer Science Grant Award, the US Department of Transportation’s, Dwight David Eisenhower Fellowship Program since 2009, Â鶹ӳ»­ Hispanic Serving Institution STEM Grant from 2011-2016, and coordinator of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Scholars Program. He will continue to oversee the STEM tutorial program. Rene is bilingual in English and Spanish. 

Patricia earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocational Education/Technology and Workforce Development from Sacramento State University, and an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from Chabot College. Patricia worked at Peralta College District as an Adelante Learning Communities Counselor/Coordinator and Instructor from 2009 to 2013 and Chabot College as an Articulation Specialist/HSI Project Coordinator from 1996 to 2013.  Her additional work experience includes Mental Health Clinical Specialist for Contra Costa West County Detention Facility for Women from 2013 to 2014; and Marriage Family Therapist for Alameda County Sheriff's Ashland Youth Center and Youth and Family Services from 2012-2013.  Patricia is a Registered Marriage Family Therapist Intern. In her spare time, Patricia enjoys spending time with her 8-yr old grandson and watching him play baseball and flag football. 

Vanessa is a Â鶹ӳ»­ and MESA alumni who received her Associates in Science for Transfer in Mathematics and Physics in 2018 and transferred to UCLA. Vanessa has also worked as a STEM tutor in the MESA program throughout the years and participated in the 2018 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program. She enjoys supporting all the STEM Student Clubs on Campus and connecting with all of the STEM students. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games and spending time with her two cats.
